Video. There's a youngish man with a slight smirk standing and talking to an armored figure.
“So...you're not Spartans? I mean, you kind of look like the pictures that got leaked.”
The armored figure shakes its head and laughs, speaking with a male voice. “No, we represent Project Freelancer. The armor is freely available to everyone in the Project, and if you get selected to be an Agent, you get your own armor color and a unique enhancement.”
The unarmored man looks a little doubtful. “And you say you need all kinds of skills, right? I'm in kind of a good spot where I am now, but....”
“There will be many opportunities for promotion, of course. And—just between us—they're doing some very experimental stuff that could change the course of the war.”
That really seems to interest the man. “Oh yeah? We could...really make a difference?”
“That is the Director's wish, yes.”
He's silent for only a few moments. When he speaks again, it's in a much more serious tone and he sounds very determined. “Count me in.”
The armored figure calls up what looks like a holographic list. “All right. Transfer approval request submitted. You're from...the USA, right? Mind if I ask what state?”
He blinks. “Yeah, I'm from New York. Why?”
The video fades out.
